2015 Hoops for Hope Program Book

Save the date for Hoops for Hope in Ashland

It’s time for basketball fans to pull out their calendars and mark October 17 as SAVED for their favorite celebrity fundraiser sports event in Southwest Kansas – Hoops for Hope.

On that date, the WEPAC Alliance will once again bring professional and college women players and local athletes together in Ashland, KS for an exciting night of basketball to support women’s healthcare initiatives in WEPAC communities.

“Every year, we are touched by the outpouring of support from athletes and fans for this important event,” said WEPAC president, Kim Hazen. “Many have participated several years and know the value of our vision for healthcare in rural Kansas. They are eager to come, and we love to host them.”

Among those returning from last year’s event are professional announcers Vera Jones and Brenda VanLengen. New to our roster will be Ruthie Bolton.

Six southwest Kansas communities make up WEPAC including Wilmore, Englewood, Protection, Ashland, Coldwater and Minneola. Their goal is to raise money for women’s health and preventive cancer screenings in rural Kansas communities who would not otherwise have easy access to advanced healthcare. The WEPAC Alliance is a non-profit organization that provides resources and education to women to encourage active participation in their own care.  WEPAC covers any out-of-pocket expenses from cancer screenings such as Pap smears and mammograms.
