2020 Game Cancellation

As a WEPAC Board we have come to the decision NOT to host the 2020 Hoops for Hope game.  This decision was not an easy one for us as the game is our biggest revenue generator and we know so many of you look forward to it each year, as do we.  Game prep usually starts in February and with so many unknowns related to the COVID-19 virus we haven’t been able to set any dates, contact any players, etc., therefore we are way behind on game preparation.

WEPAC is an organization that promotes the health of the communities that it represents and hosting the game could possibly go against that.  As of right now there is no vaccine and because we bring in women from all over the U.S. and even sometimes from over-seas to play in the game, we just don’t want to risk someone contracting the COVID-19 virus at our event.

We are extremely sorry to all the senior girls, alumni, college and professional players that were looking forward to the game this year, but we are in hopes that we can bring the game back in 2021.
Be on the look out for some smaller events WEPAC may host instead to help boost our revenue, as we still want to help the women, men and teens in the WEPAC communities.  As always if you would like to donate to WEPAC you can do so on our website wepacthehouse.org or by mailing a check to: WEPAC Alliance, PO Box 949 Ashland, KS 67831.

Again, we are truly sorry, but we feel like this is what is best to help protect the health of our communities at this time.

2019 Hoops for Hope
Saturday, October 5, 2019

South Central High School Gym,
Coldwater, KS

In March of 2009, two hospitals and five rural, southwest Kansas communities of Wilmore, Englewood, Protection, Ashland and Coldwater banded together to form the WEPAC Alliance. In 2013 the board unanimously voted in favor of bringing in the final community in Clark County, Minneola, increasing the service coverage to all of Clark and Comanche counties. The WEPAC Alliance promotes women's health and cancer awareness and provides resources for preventive cancer screenings. What began as a simple fundraiser for breast cancer awareness and early detection grew into the Hoops for Hope weekend that has gained the attention of regional and national media. Ashland Health Center in Ashland, Minneola District Hospital in Minneola, and Comanche County Hospital in Coldwater collectively serves these communities.
